LGBTQIA+ Youth are at higher risk than their peers for a variety of behavioral health concerns, largely due to their exposure to discrimination, victimization, and violence. This workshop will provide an introduction to LGBTQIA+ Youth and families in an effort to develop a common language for working with LGBTQIA+ Youth. We will learn methods to support the coming out process, discuss allyship in clinical and policy practice, identify discrimination and stereotypes applied to the LGBTQIA+ community, and develop basic crisis support skills. We will also engage in critical small-group discussions to identify specific clinical and policy approaches that can be applied in participants' workplaces.
This workshop meets the Missouri & Illinois social work licensure requirement for 3 hours of continuing education in diversity/cultural competency/humility.

Class size is limited to 50.
