Policies, Directions, and FAQs

Below are resources registrants find helpful, as well as answers to some of the most common questions we receive. If you can’t find an answer to your inquiry on this page, please contact us at brownprofdev@wustl.edu for further assistance.

Accommodations & Special Needs

The Brown School is committed to providing a safe and comfortable environment for our program participants. If you have a disability and would like to request an accommodation, please contact us at brownprofdev@wustl.edu or 314-935-7573 at least 7 days in advance of your program date.

Two of the special needs that are most frequently voiced by our participants are:

  • Accessible parking is available in the East End garage located near the Brown School, with entrances at Wrighton Way (formally Hoyt Drive) from Forsyth or Forest Park Parkway. Parking fees will average $4 - $6 for a 3-hour workshop, up to a maximum of $15 for a full day. The East End garage accepts Visa/MC or cash at self-validation stations for payment. The DUC garage is also available in the unlikely event that the East End garage is full. If you need assistance with your mobility once on campus, you can request a golf cart to take you from your car to the program location by calling 314-935-3648. This service is available 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
  • Availability of space for nursing mothers. The Brown School has a dedicated space for nursing and pumping, located on the second floor of Hillman Hall.

Program Locations, Parking & Public Transportation

Unless otherwise noted, all classes will be held on Washington University’s Danforth Campus, primarily within the Brown School's three buildings - Brown, Goldfarb, and Hillman Halls. We will send building and room assignments with your registration confirmation. Locations are subject to change. Click here for directions to the Brown School.

Effective September 1, 2017, parking is not included in our program registration fees. Visitor parking is available at any of the garages on campus. The average cost per 3-hour workshop is $4 - $6, at a maximum cost per day of $15. Click here to learn more about parking on campus. Please comply with all Washington University parking policies. The Brown School is not responsible for any parking tickets you may receive.

Washington University's Danforth Campus is adjacent to the Skinker and Big Bend MetroLink stations. Depending on the specific program location, you can anticipate a 5-10 minute walk from MetroLink to get to us. Click here to learn more about Metro's service and routes.

A note about finding us using GPS or Mapquest: Individual buildings on the Washington University campus do not have a street address. However, typing in the following addresses very nearly approximate our locations:

For programs in Brown, Goldfarb, or Hillman Hall: 1 Wrighton Way, St. Louis, MO 63105
For programs in the Danforth University Center: 6465 Forsyth Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63105

Late Registration

The preferred registration deadline for each workshop is generally one week in advance of the workshop date. When possible, we do accommodate late registrations, up to the capacity limit of the class. Firm registration deadlines often need to be observed for Summer Institute and other longer format classes.

If you are registering more than three days in advance of a workshop, online registration and payment is usually still possible. This is recommended, as your spot is only secured when you are fully registered and paid.

Online registration generally closes at least two full business days in advance of a workshop. Once online registration is closed, clicking on the workshop's "Register Online" link will produce a message indicating whether day-of, walk-up registrations will be accepted.

Refunds/Registration Cancellation

Once you have registered, there are no refunds, unless a class is canceled by the Brown School.  Students wishing to cancel a registration will receive credit towards another Brown School professional development class, provided they give 3 days’ notice of their change in plans. Proration of fees for partial attendance is not possible.

A student with a paid registration may designate a colleague or friend to attend any single meeting workshop in their place. The favor of communicating these changes to Professional Development well in advance of the workshop date is much appreciated. Designees may not be sent to partly attend a multi-meeting class.

In order to preserve an orderly and respectful classroom environment, the Brown School reserves the right to dismiss any participant who is disrupting the learning of others. In the event a participant is dismissed from one of our programs, no refunds will be provided.

Discounted Registrations

For most Professional Development workshop series classes, discounts are offered to the Brown School’s students, recent alumni (for 2 years after graduation), other alumni (more than 2 years after graduation), field instructors, faculty, and staff. We also offer a discount to full-time graduate students in other programs and to our Washington University colleagues. No other discounts are available. Individuals registering with a student discount will be asked to show their school ID when they arrive for the program. Please see each class to confirm the fee structure.

Discounted admission is automatically defined by your role selection in your personal profile.

Non-profit organizations interested in group purchases of 10 or more general admission workshop seats may contact the professional development office at
brownprofdev@wustl.edu to discuss a group discount.

For professional development attendees of Summer Institute classes, there is a corporate rate and a discounted rate for staff of non-profits.

No individual scholarships or other price reductions for our classes are possible.
