This is a self-paced online program of approximately 20 hours in duration.
The Foundations of Pandemic Preparedness & Response program provides a tool kit to help public health and social service professionals respond, mitigate, and prevent infectious disease outbreaks, focusing on the COVID-19 pandemic. This is a foundational experience, to help you build basic understand and skills in:
Epidemiology
Surveillance & Response
Communications
Mitigation & Recovery
Public Health & Social Policy
Purchasing this option gives you access to the full, 5 module program and offers the best price. Individuals who wish documentation of social work CEUs* or CPH units must satisfactorily complete 1-2 quizes or assignments associated with each module. Successful completion of all 5 modules will result in
a certificate in Foundations of Pandemic Preparedness & Response. Participants have 6 months of the date of registration to complete the program.
Upon completion of this program, you will be able to:
Understand and apply basic epidemiology concepts and methods to describe infectious disease pandemic trends.
Apply a transdisciplinary lens to pandemic surveillance, including an understanding of biology (immunology/pathology, testing, etc) and epidemiology (data and interpretation of evolving evidence).
Analyze and compare risk factors with a view towards preventing and controlling infections.
Develop public health risk communication approaches appropriate for diverse audiences.
Design prevention, response, and recovery interventions with attention to disparities (health, racial/ethnic, and socio-economic).
Apply transdisciplinary strategies for community mitigation, policy development and advocacy.
